Jimi Hendrix was the greatest guitarist of all, born in 1942, Cherokee native American blood, afro-American. Father's name was Al, mother's name was Lucille. She was 17 when she gave birth to Jimi. His full name is James Marshall Hendrix.

Why is he the greatest according to many? His intense artist ship, his innovation of the concepts of music making on this instrument. Jimi Hendrix's solos were more like John Coltrane's incredible saxophone creativity, than a nice interlude between sung verses and refrains. His performances were much more than just a music concert. He was like total performer, a 'Gesammtkunstwerk': ballet, singing, sounds, colours, verbal contact with the audience, impulses on a sheer emotional level.

Here are some Jimi Hendrix titles: Hey Joe 1967 Purple haze 1967 The wind cries Mary 1967 The burning of the midnight lamp 1967 Foxy lady 1967All along the watchtower 1968 Crosstown traffic 1969 Let me light your fire 1970 Angel / Freedom 1971 Gypsy eyes 1971 Crosstown traffic / Voodoo child 1990

Miles Davis was going to play with him, but it never happened. Hendrix died at the age of 27, in 1970.
